What made you choose to join the Games Development Society?

Originally because my friends were in it, and I just kind of ended up coming along to events!

What initially sparked your interest in game development, and what are some of the most rewarding aspects of creating your own video games?

I’ve loved games for a long time, but the reason I decided that I wanted to be a part of making them was because of the way a scene from a particular game made me feel– something completely optional that any player who didn’t turn around to just take the time and look might miss. I think the most rewarding aspect of game development is helping cool people make cool things– and maybe one day, something I’ve worked on will create that experience for someone else!

Can you share a particular games development project that you’re proud of?

My favorite project so far has been my third year professional project. Our team called it Enchanted Duels, and what makes it my favorite is that it’s something we chose to continue developing as a team, even after the class ended, just because we like it! I hope to see it actually in existence one day.

If you could be transported into a game, which one would it be? Which character would you be and why?

I think if you asked me for the entirety of my life, the answer would be “an NPC in literally any Pokemon game”, but right now, I’m being very normal about Octopath Traveler 2, so I think it would be fun to be a knight or something from that game, too. Maybe one of the recurring NPCs with a long, obnoxious sidequest. You know.

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future, and why?

Probably the past. Life would be quieter. I think I’d do well as a medieval peasant or something similar, and I’d rather deal with the plague than the capitalist promises of the future, to be honest.

What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?

Kind of answered above, but see, now you’ve given me an intentional forum to talk about Octopath Traveler 2, and that was a mistake! I play video games for the stories and the characters, and Octopath 2 has a great cast. Those are my emotional support pixel art sprites. I love just getting to run around the world and hang out with them, defeating evil gods or listening to the (incredible, don’t even get me started) music in my favorite places.

If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you choose and how would you use it?

For fun reasons, invisibility. For utility reasons, I would like to be able to summon fire. And just in general, I think some kind of healing power would be nice, since I could help a lot of people with something like that.
