What made you choose to join the Alternative Society?

I have an interest in various alternative cultures and their histories, and I think having a centralised space for people to engage with and learn about them will provide a lot of benefit

What does “alternative” mean to you, and how do you express it in your life?

Being unashamedly passionate about what you enjoy and who you are, regardless of how much those around you know about it or care, as well as giving others the space to do the same.

What’s a piece of alternative media (music, film, art, etc.) that had a major impact on you?

Undertale was a huge part of me developing my sense of humour, writing style and music taste and I would likely be a very different person had I never played it.

If your life had an alternative soundtrack, what three songs would be on it?

TRUST CEREMONY – Jhariah
Crying Dancefloor – Haelium, remixed by Bon-Psy
Flashlights – Giant Rooks

If you could live in any fictional world, which one would it be and why?

The setting of Hilda has just the right balance of fantasy and the world not being under constant threat of ending for me to say I’d happily live there

What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?

It’s a close match between Celeste and Noita. Celeste made me cry (for good, hitting emotional beats reasons), has a beautiful soundtrack and is incredibly well polished both mechanically and on the level design. It also knows when to be forgiving, which turns its Kaizo Mario style level design into something not too frustrating whilst still being very tricky. Noita, on the other hand, is crushingly difficult, incredibly unforgiving and tells you nothing about itself. Enemies will kill you, your own weapons will kill you, an explosion on the other side of the map will throw lava at your location and kill you and every time this happens you get thrown back to the start with nothing. This makes even the smallest achievements and discoveries feel like huge, game-changing moments. It will ruin your life for multiple months, and you will enjoy it.

What's your favourite cheesy joke or pun?

I was at a friend’s funeral, and I asked their family if I could get up and say a few words. Of course, they agreed, so I went up and shouted “BARGAIN!” Then I sat back down, and they leaned over to me and said “Thanks, that means a great deal.”
