What made you choose to join the Alternative Society?
My experience with alt culture/the alt community before uni was very limited so I wanted to try find people of similar interests and make friends, and to get more involved with a society that would be a good community for me.
What does “alternative” mean to you, and how do you express it in your life?
Alternative to me is almost undefinable. There isn't a correct or single "alternative", obviously the typical emo, goth or heavy metal style music comes to mind but there is so much more. To me alternative is a way for people to have a group and community accessible to anyone who doesn't feel like they fit into other groups, with this society that's what we aim to do, make an accessible place for everyone no matter who you are, what your hobbies are or what music you listen to.
What’s your favourite alternative subculture, and what do you love about it?
Well it is hard to pick just one, I do like emo, but also pop punk, alt rock etc there's so much to choose from! But if I had to pick then I'd go with emo, the aesthetic and vibes of bands like Paramore or MCR I love so much.
If your life had an alternative soundtrack, what three songs would be on it?
Three songs, I'd pick 3 from different subgenres for the variety, I think I would have to go with:
- Good Things Go by linkin park
- crushcrushcrush by Paramore
- and my favourite (and a hidden gem) vAniTy by Mitchel Dae
If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future, and why?
I would go to the future, Sci-fi is one of my favourite genres and I've always wondered what the world will be like far from now, what society, technology etc would look like and if we have managed to live on other planets, there'd be so much to see.
What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?
I am obsessed with Signalis, I love psychological horror games in general and Signalis is my favourite, it is so well made with a beautiful art style and has incredible lore and storytelling, and the whole game was made by only 2 people which is a huge inspiration for me doing game development.
What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done or would like to do in the future?
I would definitely give skydiving a go if i had the opportunity too, it would be so much fun and an unforgettable experience
