What made you choose to join the AberGays Society?

I chose to join the AberGays society as I wanted to get more involved in my community and meet fellow queer students

How does the AberGays Society create a safe and inclusive space for its members?

Abergays provides name tags for each of its members and gives them a chance to introduce themselves, sharing names, pronouns and excreta to ensure that no-one is misgendered or made uncomfortable, we have a zero tolerance policy for bullying and harassment and make sure to deal with any conflicts within the society quickly and with care

If you could have a conversation with a famous LGBT+ activist, living or deceased, who would it be and what would you talk about?

I’d speak with Gilbert Baker and ask him what it was like to design the pride flag.

Looking to the upcoming academic year, what are the goals and aspirations of the AberGays society? Are there any specific campaigns, initiatives or policy changes that the society aims to pursue?

Abergays are looking to improve we want to ensure that the society acts as a safe space and hub for queer students within the university and want to set up a box for clothing donations where members can donate clothes for other members to take home and at the end of the year we will donate any spare clothes to local charities, we want to have a small selection of pride flags for members to borrow for pride parades, additionally we want to set up a mini library system where we will have queer books for our members to access and borrow. We want to create a bank of resources for our members to access to give them the means to educate themselves on lgbt+ history and issues as well as info on resources they can access as queer students. We hope to undertake fundraising this year so that the next committee will have sufficient funding to carry out their events.
