What made you choose to join the Tabletop Games Society?

A strong interest in board games, as well as just a wish to meet new people and get somewhat active in uni.

What’s your all-time favourite board game and why?

Gaia Project, because the large number of options available at hand, plus immense strategic depth and planning being crucial to success, with minor decisions having major consequences down the line, and one to three other players constantly vying the same prizes keeping you in check and always on your toes. Not to mention variable setups and player powers adding replayability.

If you could combine two board games to create the ultimate gaming experience, which ones would you choose and how would they work together?

Probably would be Scythe, by Jamey Stegmaier and A Feast For Odin, by Uwe Rosenberg. Introducing Stegmaier’s engine building game design expertise, combined with his good utilization of area control elements and amazing worldbuilding, and combining it with the chunkiness of Rosenberg’s worker placement and tile laying mechanics, alongside his punishing difficulty and point scoring mechanics makes it an experience unlike many other, save for a potentially very very high skill floor.

Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or a pet dragon, and why?

Pet dragon, dragons can breathe fire, dinosaurs can’t, checkmate archaeologists.

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future, and why?

The past, so I can tell myself to answer this question beforehand and not have all my questions be out of order. Jokes aside, it is a hard question to answer, as going to the future grants you all the knowledge of the past but going to the past gives you all the power to change the future. I think personally I’d choose to go back to Victorian times in the past, just in pursuit of the vibes and the aesthetics, plus I would get to experience Assassin’s Creed Syndicate in real life, to a certain extent, that is.

What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?

I’d choose Nier:Automata as my video game of choice. I feel like it’s a once in a generation video game, and it managed to effectively be a masterclass in terms of storytelling, and tells a narrative unlike any other, being the first of it’s kind, while not compromising on any other front, with it’s gameplay being addictive enough to hook players in for the whole journey, it’s soundtrack being able to transport players into the world with an almost eerie level of immersion and it’s character designs remaining relevant and renown to this day.

What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done or would like to do in the future?

I’d say go lead climbing off the side of a mountain, like, an actual mountain and not artificial rocks in climbing gyms. It was daunting, but overall I managed to survive, with a few minor injuries here and there. Would really like to explore climbing crags in Scotland and North America in the future.
