Why did I want to become a Department Rep?
I wanted to represent something I am passionate about and give back to a community that nurtures my interest and provides the support and opportunity for others to explore their interests further. Since arriving this year at Abertay University as a direct entrant from Dundee and Angus College, I have made great connections with students and staff, and I want to give back to the University by providing a voice that is willing to listen and communicate feedback.
What's the one piece of advice you would give to students you represent?
Make time for your interests but do not let it conflict with your coursework. I focused on a side project at the start of my time at Abertay and it ended up conflicting with my coursework and threw me a bit off track. It's great to have a passion but you must have discipline.
What do I do in my free time?
I mainly sit at home with my partner and my two cats (Angus and Kanna) and I either study or read about a topic I may find interesting or play video games. My main interest at the moment is Computing History and Low-Level Programming and I wish to explore that field more as I study at Abertay University.
If I could have any pet, regardless of legality, what would I choose and why?
I would love a Raccoon. They are just funny little guys, they are adorable, and they sound chaotic.
If I could magically become fluent in any language, which one would I choose and why?
I think Chinese, Spanish, Polish or Russian. A language that is commonly spoken. I would love the ability to communicate easily with more people and learn more about them. I feel that the boundary of language is a very difficult one to get around and that being more open to learning about others is the key to building a healthy environment.
