What made you choose to join the Biomedical Science Society?

I joined the Biomedical Science society because I thought it would be a great way to meet like-minded people outside of class.

What initially sparked your interest in Biomedical Science, and what aspects of the field do you find most fascinating or rewarding?

When I was very young I had an asthma attack and the ambulance crew that cared for me were so amazing and I found the whole thing so fascinating that I know I wanted to go into some form of medical field carer. As I got older and went to high school I began to really enjoy biology and realised that a laboratory career would be a perfect fit for me. When I researched I came across biomed and I knew that that was what I wanted to do! My favourite aspect of biomedicine is microbiology!

Are there any specific cases, TV shows or books that ignited your curiosity about biomedical science?

I watch a lot of medical TV shows such as '24 Hours in A&E', 'The Good Doctor', 'Grey's Anatomy' etc, all of which have fuelled my interest in biomedical science as all of these shows require some form of laboratory testing to diagnose their patients.

How does being part of the Biomedical Science Society enhance your understanding and passion for the field?

Being part of the biomedical science society allows you to see that there are a lot of people who care deeply about the subject. The biomedical science society also has people from different years of study which helps during study sessions as the people further into their course can lend a hand to deepen your knowledge if needed. Seeing that there's so many other people who are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable in the field helps to fuel the passion for others.

What's the most embarrassing or funny thing that has ever happened to you?

One of the most embarrassing but funny to look back on things that has ever happened to me is probably when I went shopping in Primark a few years ago and they gave me one of those paper bags and it was raining... My bag ripped open outside the overgate and all my clothes fell out onto the floor. As if that's not bad enough some lady near me started yelling "HER KNICKERS HAVE FALLEN OUT THE BAG" I did infact not buy any underwear it was a pair of pineapple shorts... Safe to say I bring my own carrier bags to Primark now.

What's your favourite board game or video game, and what makes it so enjoyable for you?

My favourite board game is 'The Game of Life' because it's so unrealistic and becomes a really funny game if you play it with the right people.

If you could have any superpower for a day, what would you choose and how would you use it?

I would choose the power of teleportation and teleport to different countries!
