Department Representatives

As a Department Rep, you represent and act as a voice for students within your academic department. Your role is to feedback on key issues that affect the student experience to both the University and the Association.

 

Who can nominate themselves for this position?

Only students who will be at Abertay in the academic year 2024/25.

To be a Department Rep you must be a current Abertay University student and must be studying in the department relevant to the position you run for.

The Departments are: 

  • Built Environment & Life Sciences
  • Computing & Cybersecurity
  • Dundee Business School 
  • Games and Arts (2 Rep positions available)
  • Games Technology and Maths
  • Health, Sports, & Wellbeing 
  • Sociological & Psychological Sciences
  • Postgraduate Taught

Your responsibilities would be to: 

  • Use Unitu, the Student Voice Platform, to interact with students in your Department.

  • Attend & take an active part in Student Voice Fora (SVF) meetings. - approximately 60-90 minutes per semester

  • Attend and take an active part in the Student Representative Council (SRC) - approximately 60-90 minutes per month. 

  • Represent your community at key meetings with the University, during campaigns and policy discussions outside of SRC.

  • Communicate & feedback regularly to the students you represent.

  • Communicate regularly with the Class Reps in your department, as well as with other Deparment Reps.

  • Attend Rep Training

  • Help to promote Abertay University Students’ Association campaigns

To help you in your role we will provide training and support, including

  • Induction and ongoing training
  • Support from the Students’ Association’s Engagement Co-ordinators
  • Support from the Students’ Association’s Full Time Officers (President and Vice-President)
