Community Representatives

To represent and act as a voice for students who identify with the community that you also identify with, and to feedback on key issues that affect the student experience to Abertay University Students’ Association, and the university.

 


Who can nominate themselves for this position?

Only students who will be at Abertay in the academic year 2024/25.

To be a Community Rep you must be a current Abertay University student and must identify as a member of the community that you represent.

The available positions are: 

  • BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic)
  • Direct Entrant 
  • Disabled 
  • International 
  • LGBTQ+ 
  • Mature 
  • Parents and Carers
  • Sports
  • Transgender and Non-binary
  • Women
  • Student Workers

 


Your responsibilities would be to: 

  • Attend & take an active part in the Student Leadership Team (SLT), where you will plan and implement campaigns and events to raise the profile and awareness of issues affecting the student body. - approximately 30 minutes per month

  • Attend and take an active part in the Student Representative Council (SRC) - approximately 60-90 minutes per month

  • Represent your community at key meetings with the University, during campaigns and policy discussions outside of SRC.

  • Communicate & feedback regularly to the students you represent.

  •  Attend Community Rep Training

  • Help to promote Abertay University Students’ Association campaigns

To help you in your role we will provide training and support, including

  •  Induction and ongoing training
  •  Support from the Students’ Association’s Engagement Co-ordinators
  • Support from the Students’ Association’s Full Time Officers (President and Vice-President)
